4 Jersey Numbers Man United Could Offer Jadon Sancho If Cavani Sticks With No 7

Jadon Sancho’s potential move to Manchester United is dominating the headlines once again after a protracted transfer saga last summer.

However, things seem different this time, with Borussia Dortmund willing to let him leave for approximately £77 million. Although, the Red Devils are reportedly yet to determine a transfer budget but provided they sign Sancho, here is a look at what shirt numbers they could offer him;

Option 1: No. 11

Right now, Mason Greenwood dons the No. 11 jerseys but towards the end of 2020-21, the teenager often played a central role.

However, with Edison Cavani wearing the No. 7 shirts and Anthony Martial failing to impress, perhaps, the No. 9 shirts (which is Martial’s at the moment) could be handed to Greenwood. That is if they don’t sign a new striker this summer. Thus, the No. 11 jerseys could become free for Sancho.

Option 2: No. 18

Previously. Jadon Sancho has worn the No. 18 shirt for Dortmund but it belongs to Bruno Fernandes at United.

But should Juan Mata depart the club this summer, Bruno could be given his preferred No. 8 jersey – leaving No. 18 for the 21-year-old.

Option 3: No. 14

Last summer, it was reported that the Red Devils could offer Sancho the No. 7 shirts, but it was before they signed Cavani.

Sancho has never worn 14 before but it could be a great way to kick things off at Old Trafford. Interestingly, David Beckham donned this number for one season (1994-95) while Jesse Lingard was the last United player to have worn it.

Option 4: No. 15

Going back to Sancho’s days at Manchester City, the Englishman wore No.15 a couple of times and could go back to that if he returns to Manchester.

The number was last worn by Andreas Pereira and Daley Blind, No.15 could use a shake-up of sorts. And what better way than to give it to Sancho?

Bonus Option: No.7 For The Future

Edinson Cavani has just extended his stay only for a year, meaning the No.7 shirt could potentially be up for grabs in 2022.

Thus if United sign Sancho now and he plays well, he could be rewarded with the iconic shirt – just like fans wanted!
