Ballon d’Or Power Rankings: Where Do Bruno Fernandes & Jesse Lingard Rank?
Today we bring to you this month’s Ballon d’Or Power rankings, consisting of the top contenders for the 2021 Golden Ball award.
Despite injuries, Bayern Munich sensation Robert Lewandowski stays in pole position in the rankings for the prestigious Ballon d’Or award in 2021.
The Polish forward is just about to return from his knee injury with Bayern Munich potentially facing a quarter-finals exit at the hands of PSG in the Champions League.
In this latest Ballon d’Or power rankings, Kylian Mbappe, who scored a brace against the current Champions League holders in their quarter-finals first leg tie has moved up into the second spot in the over FC Barcelona captain Lionel Messi.
The Argentine and six-time Ballon d’Or winner couldn’t help his side go atop of the La Liga table as they lost El Clasico to Real Madrid over the weekend.
Next on the list is Erling Haaland, who surprisingly not scored since March 20, but has decided to start providing assists himself for a change, maybe. He has assisted in each of the two games last week, including the Champions League showdown with Manchester City.
Meanwhile, Bruno Fernandes remains the outstanding player for Man United but without the Champions League to compete for, his chances for the award are not as huge. He might be in contention if he leads Man United to the Europa League trophy and, most importantly, impresses at the upcoming Euros for Portugal.
On the other hand, Jesse Lingard is the most left-field shout-out there, but hear us out. He is already the most prolific player in the Premier League since arriving at West Ham (8 goals and 3 assists in 9 games).
Now, there is every possibility that Lingard can lead the Hammers to the Champions League next season and as well starring for England at the same European Championship. Thus, given his latest form, it’s far from impossible…
Another surprise inclusion in our top five of the latest Ballon d’Or power rankings is Karim Benzema, who was instrumental in Real Madrid’s 3-1 win over Liverpool and scored against Barcelona in El Clasico last weekend to take his goal tally for the season to 25 in 25 games.
