Arsenal 0-2 Chelsea – Blues Players’ Ratings: Lukaku & James – 10, Mount – 8.5 & Others

Chelsea emphatically defeated Arsenal in the London Derby on Sunday evening, scoring 2-0 past the Gunner. With our new signing Romelu Lukaku on target, here is how our stars performed;

Romelu Lukaku 10/10

No adaptation was needed for our new No. 9 as he put in a fantastic performance today.

Broke the deadlock in the 15th minute and was extremely useful in the build-up for the entirety of the game, showing that his hold-up play could be even more important than his clinical finishing.

An imperious debut for the striker. Our Belgian beast will now come to Pablo Mari in his worst nightmares.

Reece James 10

Simply ruined Arsenal today.

The wing-back routinely made Kieran Tierney look like a non-league player, exploiting the spaces behind him.

Played a lovely low cross to Lukaku to assist his opener and then put his name on the scoresheet after Mount picked him on the edge of the box.

Reece was somewhat a liability at the back though but Azpi covered well for him.

Mateo Kovacic 9

Bossed the midfield today, making things extremely difficult for Arsenal with his passing, especially in the first half.

The Croatian was crucial in Chelsea’s opener, spotting Tierney vacating his position and James running into the space. Mateo fed James, who in turn assisted Lukaku.

Mason Mount 8.5

Involved in most if not all Chelsea’s attacks. Played a perfectly weighted pass to assist James.

Andreas Christensen 8.5

Looked extremely comfortable at the back, making several good clearances and interceptions. Dane’s top-notch passing was instrumental in Chelsea avoiding Arsenal’s pressing.

Hakim Ziyech 8.5

Was given a few minutes off the bench today and showed he is in top form. Created chances for Lukaku, Havertz, and himself—all in space of 15 minutes.

Jorginho 6.5

Not a bad performance for the Italo-Brazilian. But he was somewhat exposed by Arsenal defensively today as he was bypassed way too easily by the Gunners attackers.

Other players: Mendy, Kante 8, Alonso 7.5, Rudiger, Azpilicueta, Havertz 7.
