Breaking: Chelsea Set To Sign A New Right-Wing-Back As Tuchel Plans New Position For Reece James

According to The Telegraph’s Matt Law, Chelsea will look to add a new right-wing-back to their squad this summer.

The plan is to provide some cover for Reece James, with Cesar Azpilicueta’s future unknown.

This should not affect the position of James himself as he is still in line for a new deal.

The England international signed his current deal in January 2020, after just a couple of months in the first team. He remains one of the lowest-paid first-team players despite a key role in Thomas Tuchel’s team.

On the other hand, Chelsea could loose club captain Cesar Azpilicueta to Barcelona this summer with Xavi Hernandez a big fan of the Spanish international. It was reported that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly and Barca board had a successful meeting weeks ago and an agreement could be in place for the veteran defender.
