Brigham and Women’s Hospital offers a comprehensive program with flexible benefits, including pre-tax deductions, which are of great benefit to our employees.
As one of the most renowned hospitals in the country, we have to offer the kind of salary you would expect from a leader in healthcare. Although salaries vary from position to position, they are always competitive with similar positions in other regional hospitals, and in many cases exceed those of regional hospitals.
Generous Paid Time-off Program
BWH’s unique Benefit Time program is a flexible paid leave program that gives you up to 29 days of leave annually – and 33 days after 7 years of operation. This includes holidays, public holidays, and sporadic illnesses. Compensation time rolls over from year to year until you reach the maximum amount, and employees have the option to make up for the overcompensated time.
Flexible Work Schedules Promoting Work/Life Balance
We are committed to making your time off from work as valuable as your career with us. We have created a flexible working time model that promotes work-life balance that you won’t find in other hospitals. All deductions are pre-tax and apply to you, your eligible family members.
Tax Sheltered Annuities
This allows you to save money and plan for retirement through pre-and post-tax payroll deductions.
Flexible Spending Accounts
All employees have the right to open a flexible expense account that will cover their own expenses or medical expenses. Contributions to this account are not subject to federal, state, or local taxes.
We believe in the security that life and death insurance can provide in the event of an accident and personal injury. For this reason, eligible employees receive insurance equivalent to their salary, paid to whomever they choose. As your salary increases, so does the value of your policy. You can also take out additional insurance for you and your addict.
Retiree Medical Savings Account
This program is designed to help you save and pay for health care costs in retirement, as well as provide access to hospital-sponsored health care plans for retirees. One of the main features of this program is the contribution to matching hospitals to drive savings through the program. You can participate in an RMSA starting in the calendar year when you are 50 years old.
As a training hospital, we strongly believe in the value of training. That is why we generously reimburse all qualified full-time and part-time employees who have been with us for more than 6 months for training costs.
For non-hospital, bachelor’s, or master’s degrees, reimbursement is $3,000 per year for full-time employees (36-40 hours per week) and $2,000 for part-time employees (20-35 hours per week).
For professional certificates or professional development courses, reimbursement is $1,600 per year for full-time employees (36 hours per week) and $1,100 for part-time employees (20-35 hours per week).
Back-up Child Care
BWH’s Reserve Child Care Center provides emergency care for children ages 6 weeks to 12 Monday through Friday at a cost of $8/hour/child. BWHBUCC, located at Brigham and Women’s Health Care Center at 850 Boylston Street in Chestnut Hill, provides care for the families of eligible BWH/BWFH employees and patients.
Care.com offers qualified BWH employees to home childcare 7 days a week. Child care workers are health and safety tested and trained by Care.com.
Subsidized memberships are available at several local gyms (BodyScapes, Ultimate Bootcamp, Healthworks Fitness Center for Women, Weymouth Club, Mission Fitness, and Calm Power Yoga).
Employee Assistance Program
EAP is a free and confidential professional resource available to all BWH employees. The department focuses on work and personal life issues, stress reduction, family issues, crisis intervention, and substance abuse, among other areas of expertise. See the EAP website.
All employees are encouraged to take part in the various courses and opportunities offered by both Human Resource Development and Organizational Development and Training. This additional knowledge gives them the tools they need to thrive and grow with the organization. Classes include: Time Management, Continuing Education, Self-Assessment, and Career Counseling to name a few.
This program is for all eligible Brigham and Women’s Hospital employees (20 hours or more per week). BWH offers 50% off all MBTA cards with a contribution limit of $125.00. Discounted monthly MBTA tickets are offered via a pre-tax discount. To participate in the T-Pass program, you must register with PeopleSoft by the 14th of each month, with the pass valid on the 1st of the following month. Salary deductions are taken from the 4th salary of each month and T-pass on the last Thursday of each month.
