Michael Carrick Finally Explains Why He Benched Cristiano Ronaldo In Chelsea Draw

Cristiano Ronaldo was inexplicably benched in the 1-1 draw with Chelsea this Sunday.

The 36-year-old came on as a substitute but was unable to get on the scoresheet as the home side kept him quiet.

United interim boss Michael Carrick has explained his reasons for benching the Portuguese legend; “A few tweaks and changes to freshen things up. Cristiano Ronaldo is your standout name [to be on the bench]. I have had a good chat with Cristiano and he was great.”
