“It is not just his penalty save but his performance,” Chelsea assistant manager Arno Michels said of Kepa’s display against Plymouth.
“He has had very good performances in the last few matches.
“He is very reliable and has the ability to save penalties. It’s hard to even beat him in training on penalties.
“He has the ability to read minds.
“It is hard for him because Edou [Mendy] is playing very good, but Kepa is doing very good work and is an amazing guy. I am happy for him.”
Malang Sarr gave Plymouth a lifeline late in extra time, conceding a penalty. But Kepa bailed Chelsea out, saving Ryan Hardie’s shot.
He put in an excellent performance, making a total of four saves.
