Chelsea Line-Up First Pre-Season Friendly This Weekend – Time, Venue, Team News

Chelsea will be playing their first pre-season friendly this weekend against Championship side Peterborough United ahead of the 2021-22 season, according to The Athletic’s Simon Johnson.

The friendly match is set to take place on Saturday behind closed doors at the Cobham training base. However, there is no announcement as to whether the game will be televised at the time of writing.

As most of Chelsea’s first-team players were involved at Euro 2020 [Jorginho, Emerson Palmieri, Mason Mount, Reece James, Ben Chilwell] or at Copa America, as is in the case of Thiago Silva, they won’t be available to Thomas Tuchel for selection.

And despite the likes of Hakim Ziyech, Christian Pulisic, Marcos Alonso, Tammy Abraham, and Callum Hudson-Odoi might be in the team, this could be a chance for the younger part of the squad to showcase their talent to the manager.

Marc Guehi, Conor Gallagher, Dujon Sterling, Armando Broja, and even Charly Musonda, who has been on a long-term injury might well feature against Peterborough.
