Saul Niguez is enjoying the love from Chelsea fans after he produced an excellent display in the middle of the park against Tottenham.
The Spaniard was arguably Chelsea’s best player on the night, finally showing why the Blues took a gamble on him last summer.
However, according to the reliable Simon Johnson of The Athletic, Chelsea are unlikely to trigger the buy option for Saul at the end of this season.
His deal has a £30 million clause that would allow the Blues to acquire him permanently but despite good performances, it’s likely Saul won’t be coming back to the club.
The midfielder has another 4 months to change the minds of the club’s hierarchy but he clearly can’t afford to play subpar again.
