CIES Football Observatory has named Chelsea outside the top 40 in European football squad ranking.
In the official publication of their latest research: a list of the ‘most sustainable squads’ in European football.
The teams were ranked on the following criteria: the players’ age (the younger, the better), average stay (the longer, the better) and contract duration (the longer, the better).
Chelsea’s squad has been ranked in 42nd place among the teams from top 5 European leagues (48.6 points out of 100). Manchester City, Real Sociedad and Liverpool are in the top 3.
As per CIES Football Observatory, the average age of a Stamford Bridge player is 27.6 years, they have been at the club for an average of 2.6 years and have an average of 2.3 years remaining on their contracts.
