As per a report, Chelsea is in line to sign a highly-rated Ajax teenager in Ryan Gravenberch. The Blues are reportedly gearing up for a busy summer window, similar to the last one. With the speculations coming in heavily, Chelsea could turn to Ajax once more.
Last summer, the West London club signed Hakim Ziyech from the Dutch club but it hasn’t exactly gone to plan so far. The player in Ziyech is still there, however, the Morocco international hasn’t managed to break through at Stamford Bridge under either Frank Lampard or Thomas Tuchel.
Many, meanwhile, have called for the star to be moved on since the German manager cannot seem to work him into his plans. But that doesn’t mean Chelsea won’t be returning to Ajax in the near future.
According to reports from Gazzetta dello Sport, the Blues are named as one of the three Premier League clubs allegedly ‘pursuing’ Ryan Gravenberch.
The 18-year-old at this point is one of the key players for the Dutch club despite his young age, and already has three Netherlands caps to his name.
As the English giants want more depth in midfield, Chelsea appears to have targeted Gravenberch, although he won’t come cheaply.
The report adds that Ajax value the Starlet at around €35m but it would be a different story at the end of the day.
Gravenberch, who is under contract at the Dutch club until 2023 can play in multiple positions across midfield and the report concludes that Chelsea would attempt to use their ‘cordial’ relationship with Ajax to see of a move.
