Chelsea Submit An Enquiry For La Liga-Winning Midfielder Seen As Rice Alternative
Chelsea have submitted an enquiry about Atletico Madrid midfielder Saul Niguez according to Fabrizio Romano, a very reliable source.
The journalist claims that the Blues want to improve their midfield and are considering a number of options, including Saul and Declan Rice.
Also, The Times adds that the La Liga winners’ asking price for the 26-year-old is €70 million (£60m).
Saul Niguez is a ‘jack of all trades’ midfielder, capable of both creating chances for his teammates and destroying the opposition’s attacks.
In Atletico’s title-winning side, Niguez is primarily used as a holding midfielder due to his tenacity: the Spaniard averages 2.84 tackles per 90 minutes.
