Chelsea’s Pre-Season Line-Up Without Key First Team Players Revealed

The Blues kicked off their pre-season with a massive 6-1 win against Peterborough United in a game behind closed doors on Saturday.

Thomas Tuchel started two different teams for both halves with Hakim Ziyech bagging a hat-trick.

Below was Chelsea’s pre-season line-up earlier on Saturday for the first half;

Kepa; Jake Clarke-Salter, Trevoh Chalobah, Malang Sarr; Davide Zappacosta, Danny Drinkwater, Ross Barkley, Marcos Alonso; Christian Pulisic, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Tammy Abraham .

The manager, reportedly opted to play 3 defenders at the back as the team line up in a 3-4-2-1 formation, similar to the one mostly used last season.

Obviously, we are aware that Tuchel loves this formation as he played either this or a 3-4-3 last campaign.

While a pre-season match against a weaker opposition can’t be taken very seriously, it does suggest that the Blues are likely to field the same formation in the season with the gaffer not experiementing yet.

Meanwhile, majority of the Chelsea first-team players are still on holiday following this summer’s European Championship and Copa America. They might not be available for the pre-season games but will certainly be back in time for the new season.
