In an interview with Cadena SER, Brentford goalkeeper David Raya opened up the on criticism faced by Luis Enrique for choosing him over David De Gea for the Spain squad.
“It’s understandable,” explained the 26-year-old. “I’ve played most of my career in the Championship, a league that is hardly known in Spain.
“It’s understandable that there are people who don’t know who I am or have questions about me.
“People are going to have an opinion, that’s for sure. There will be people who understand it and others who don’t.”
“I’m very happy to have been selected. I’m very happy to have been selected, and I’m going to try to do my best.”
The Manchester United goalkeeper has been a vital part of the squad this season, making the most saves in the Premier League in 2022.
However, some fans feel his technical skills have let him down in the selection for the national squad.
