Diego Simeone: “Joao Will Help Suarez End His Streak”
Ahead of today’s Champions League clash against Chelsea, Diego Simeone believes Joao Felix will help Luis Suarez to finally end his goal drought in London.
The Uruguayan has been carrying an away goal drought in the Champions League and now Simeone thinks it could all end today. Suarez scored his last away goal in the Champions League back in late 2015. Since then, he hasn’t been able to score for either Barcelona or Atletico Madrid in an away game in this competition. However, ‘Cholo’ believes El-Pistolero has what it takes to finally end this drought.
To even be precise, Diego Simeone thinks Joao Felix will be the player who can help Luis Suarez overcome this obstacle against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge later today. But before we proceed, it’s worthy to note that Thomas Tuchel already has an advantage against Atletico Madrid after beating them 0-1 at the Wada Metropolitano.
Meanwhile, the London club has improved massively since the German manager arrived to replace Frank Lampard. Although the Argentine manager is aware of the major threat that Chelsea poses to his players, he trusts the attacking duo at his disposal.

Diego Simeone Believes Joao Felix Can Help Luis Suarez Score
From the look of things, it’s not only Luis Suarez Chelsea needs to worry about as Joao Felix will play from the start as well. According to Simeone, the pressure that the youngster has at the moment won’t carry over to affect him in a negative manner. The Atletico boss actually thinks that Joao can help Suarez end that away goal torture he’s been carrying since his days at Camp Nou. If he plays behind the striker as a playmaker, Felix can become one of the most dangerous players in the world.
At Tuesday’s press conference, Diego Simeone said the following through AS: “Joao Felix will play from the start and today is probably the day Luis cuts that negative streak. Suarez is very important for us. We still donāt know what can happen from a negative result they have against them for the first time this season. Nobody will know until this match takes place.”
