Edinson Cavani Opens Up On His Reaction To European Super League
Edinson Cavani insists that he was left in disbelief after hearing about something like the European Super League being created.
Speaking about his initial reaction to hearing about the breakaway competition, the Uruguayan told South American outlet DosdePunta: “When the Super League came around I told myself: ‘That can’t be possible – if it happens, what can we expect next?’
“I don’t share its ideas at all. I am not in agreement with it. You mustn’t deprive more modest teams the chance of playing in the Champions League.
“Or stop average clubs from dreaming of competing with the bigger ones, and having a place among the elite. You can’t deny fans of these clubs the chance to have this experience.”

Moreover, the Super League news shocked the entire Manchester United squad, with Bruno Fernandes being the first to take a sly swipe at it. In the end, United players themselves pressured management into backing out of it – with some threatening to boycott games if it went along.
Also, the entire fiasco has triggered a huge anti-Glazers movement, with multiple protests taking place at Old Trafford and one of them forcing United’s initial game against Liverpool to be postponed.
