According to Graeme Bailey of 90Min, a tier-three source, Manchester United are optimistic about reaching an agreement with Barcelona to sign Frenkie de Jong this summer.
Despite the Dutch midfielder’s initial hesitation to join, it appears Erik ten Hag’s pitch has changed De Jong’s mind.
Personal terms will not be a problem in that case, with the Red Devils hoping to have a medical for the 25-year-old as early as next week.
United’s initial bid was worth €70 million – €60 million up front and the remaining in add-ons – which has been rejected by Barcelona.
The Catalans are now demanding €100 million to sell De Jong but Bailey understands United will return with an improved bid.
