Rio Ferdinand Leaks Cristiano Ronaldo’s Jersey Number For Manchester United
Cristiano Ronaldo is just one step away from landing in Manchester as a United player since after the official announcement of his deal.
The first question on fans’ minds is obviously whether CR7 will don his famous No.7 shirt which is currently worn by Edinson Cavani.
Interestingly, club legend Rio Ferdinand had just said on his FIVE YouTube podcast: “Just to think Cavani could be the back-up for Ronaldo, it’s unbelievable.
“Cavani, I have to say, what a man. He saw who was coming to town and gave up the No.7 shirt.”
Quickly, Rio added: “Maybe? I don’t know. Does he do that or not? At the end of the day, you know what the problem might be is that the shirts have been registered, maybe.
“And that might be an issue. So, he might not be able to be No.7 so we’ll see.”

Regardless of how Cavani feels about it, Premier League rules state that once a player has been registered with a squad number at the beginning of the season, it can’t be changed unless that player leaves the club. And obviously, Edinson Cavani is going nowhere.
Now, it remains to be seen if Manchester United are able to get special permission from the league to make an exception.
