Chelsea are set to make a final approach for Jules Kounde on the last day of the transfer window, according to the reliable Fabrizio Romano.
The deal with Sevilla has been ‘on the verge of collapsing’ a lot of times, as the reporter puts it.
But in the latest turnaround, the Spanish club reportedly moved the goalposts on the asking price, using Chelsea’s sale of Kurt Zouma to West Ham as a reason to demand more from the Blues than it was originally agreed.
It’s not clear if Chelsea intend to meet Sevilla’s asking price for the Frenchman which is now understood to be in the region of €65m.
The window closes at 23:00 BST on Tuesday, August 31, so Chelsea have just hours to complete the deal.
