FT. Barca 3-0 Juventus – Players Ratings As Messi-Less Barca Down Ronaldo Juventus
FC Barcelona started their post-Messi era with a convincing 3-0 win against Juventus in the Joan Gamper’s trophy on Sunday night.
Goals from Memphis Depay, Martin Braithwaite, and Riqui Puig were enough to get Barca to a strong start following a difficult week of Lionel Messi’s exit. Following the good result, we take a look at how the Catalan stars performed individually;
Neto — 9
The Brazilian goalkeeper deservingly got the MOTM award after the final whistle. Neto made several crucial saves throughout the game, with Juventus not shying away from long-range shots and counters. His ball distribution, something he used to get criticism for, was on point as well.
Memphis Depay — 8.5
Having the 27-year-old upfront feels like a breath of fresh air. Memphis does it all — makes runs, creates chances, shoots, dribbles, and even sprints back to defend. The Dutchman barely put a foot wrong in the Joan Gamper clash and his first home game for Barcelona.

Yusuf Demir — 8.5
The youngster had a hybrid role against Juve and did very well despite the unusual tactics (switching between 4-2-3-1 and 4-1-4-1). Demir provided the assist to Memphis and created several other chances.
Yusuf looks very comfortable at the ball and is capable of playing with the back at the goal, a very important factor for someone in his position.
Alex Balde — 8
Out of all the subs that were made in the second half, Balde impressed the most. The full-back is very brave with the ball and isn’t afraid of taking the opposing defenders.
In addition to that, Alex is rock-solid defensively, although he needs to work a bit on his positioning. But that comes with experience.
Sergi Roberto — 5.5
The La Masia played in midfield in a system with two pivots, which he’s not too used to. Although he’s had his fair share of good contributions, it’s also true that he committed quite a few mistakes.
Either giving away the ball too easily, slowing the play down, or forgetting about the players he was supposed to mark.
Other starters: Dest — 7.5, Araujo — 7.5, Pique — 7, Alba — 6.5, Busquets — 7, Griezmann — 8, Braithwaite — 7.
Subs: Emerson — 6.5, Umtiti — 6.5, Nico — 6.5, Puig — 7, Manaj — 6, Collado — n/a.
