FT. Bournemouth 1-2 Chelsea: Players Ratings – Broja 9, Abraham 5 & Others

After smashing Petersborough United 6-1 the last time out in the preseason, the Blues have put up another breathtaking performance, seeing off a Bournemouth side 2-1 in what is seen as mixed team performance. Chelsea earned a deserved victory at Vitality Park, and here is how our players are being assessed after the game.

Chelsea Players Ratings vs Bournemouth

Armando Broja: 9

He could actually be the Haaland that Chelsea need. Armando Broja’s cold-blooded finish saw Chelsea level in the game, but his game has been much more than that.

The youngster gives off some Harry Kane meets Olivier Giroud vibes: runs into spaces, drops deep to connect with his teammates, and scores crucial goals. Should definitely get a first-team opportunity this season.

Edouard Mendy: 8.5

Bournemouth forward David Brooks looked certain to score that one-on-one after Conor Gallagher lost the ball near the penalty box. But Edou stood tall, forcing Brooks to put his shot wide. Mendy then made a point-blank save, denying the B’mouth attacker. Can’t be blamed for the conceded goal.

Hakim Ziyech: 8

Was extremely dangerous on the counter in the first half, laying the ball on the plate for Tammy Abraham on three separate occasions. His creativity was missed in the second half, though.

Danny Drinkwater: 8

A Fabregas-esque display from the 31-year-old as he pulled the strings in the midfield in the first half. Sprayed accurate long-range passes left, right, and center, starting the majority of Chelsea’s attacks.

Callum Hudson-Odoi: 8

Odoi played at right wing-back and showed his desire to fight for his place in the team. Was very active on that right-hand side as most of Chelsea’s attacks had him as a focal point.

Lewis Baker: 7.5

The youngster put in quite an impressive performance in defense, making several timely recoveries, and looked rock-solid at the back.

Baba Rahman: 7.5

The Blues forgotten man delivered an excellent cross for Broja and was really impressive on the left.

Ike Igbo: 7.5

The matchwinner, scored a crucial goal with a fantastic header, bringing the victory to Chelsea.

Ross Barkley: 7

Put in a Zidane-esque cross from the corner on top of a couple of good long balls. A decent display by the 27-year-old.

Marcos Alonso: 6

A typical workmanlike display by the Spaniard but his defensive instincts were a bit off today as he allowed too much freedom to Bournemouth attackers on the left side. Should have done better, anyway!

Conor Gallagher: 5.5

Though he dominated the midfield in the second half, Gallagher conceded two really bad mistakes in the second as he was dispossessed in his own half, resulting in B’mouth forward Brooks going one-on-one with Mendy and given up a bad foul near the penalty box.

Tammy Abraham: 5

He really, really tried but today’s performance won’t bring any favor in the team his way.

The 23-year-old lacked composure in front of the goal. His movement was top-notch but he should have buried at least one of the chances Ziyech and Pulisic created for him. If Tammy wants to prove to Tuchel that he deserves a place in this Chelsea team, he has to do better.

Other Starting XI Players: Pulisic, Kepa 6.5, Sterling 6.

Other Subs: Chalobah, Loftus-Cheek 6.5, Zappacosta, Clarke-Salter, Miazga 6.
