Number Of Games Mendy and Ziyech Will Miss For Chelsea During AFCON Next Season Revealed

Earlier last week, the Premier League fixtures for next season were revealed and the Blues have learned which teams they will be playing in the month of January.

This is extremely relevant as the African Cup of Nations [AFCON] will take place between January 9 to February 6, 2022. As a result, Edouard Mendy, Hakim Ziyech, and potentially Callum Hudson-Odoi will be unavailable during this month.

Thus, it will be a dangerous time for the Blues as they will play Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City during that time.

And that’s not just all, with the Club World Cup taking place in December, the Blues could as well have some rearranged fixtures for January that the players will also miss.

Furthermore, Chelsea also play Liverpool on January 1, but maybe the players will be able to leave after that game takes place, just maybe!

On the other hand, if Chelsea succeed in signing Hakimi Achraf, he will also miss this period for the Blues, while Hudson-Odoi’s involvement is dependent upon if he decides to play for Ghana for his senior international career over England.

Considering that Premier League ambitions are the aim of the season, the Blues will need to utilize the depth of their squad to make it through this stretch unscathed, hopefully!
