Gareth Southgate To Snub Ben Chilwell & Luke Shaw For England’s Euro Opener Against Croatia

It’s been reported by The Athletic that Gareth Southgate will play Kieran Trippier at left-back despite having two specialist left-backs at his disposal.

Talking about England’s opening Euro 2020 game against Croatia, David Ornstein of the Athletic tweeted about the Three Lion’s potential line-up, saying: “England look set to use back 4 v Croatia.

“Barring late changes Trippier to start at LB, Walker RB, Mings & Stones CB. Phillips expected with Rice, Mount, Sterling, Foden & Kane.”

With Champions League winner Ben Chilwell at his disposal, it would make no sense for Southgate to play a right-back out of position over him and even Man United’s Luke Shaw.
