Speaking to Manchester City’s club media, Erling Haaland said: “Riyad Mahrez told me to come to Man City, so he was right about that.
“He talks, he said some good things about the club. My father too a little bit. I was born in England, I’ve been a Man City fan my whole life.
“I know a lot about the club. I think in the end, two things; I feel at home a bit here. Also, I think I can develop and get the best out of my game at City.”
Both Manchester United and Man City were interested in bringing in Haaland but it was Pep Guardiola’s side who sealed an £85.5 million transfer from Borussia Dortmund.
Naturally, it would have been difficult for Manchester United to win the race to sign the Norwegian this summer should they have entered the race, given that the Red Devils won’t be playing a Champions League football next season.
United were understandably one of the favorites to sign Erling Haaland when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was at the club but missed the chance to snatch the youngster from Borussia Dortmund from Salzburg.
