Chelsea have confirmed the squad numbers for Kalidou Koulibaly and Raheem Sterling. These are not their ‘official’ numbers for the next campaign: they will wear these numbers in the remaining pre-season games only.
The defender will play with a 26 on his back. Sterling has taken up a No. 17 shirt.
It is also noted that Conor Gallagher has changed his previous 38 to 15.
Meanwhile, the squad numbers for Raheem Sterling and Koulibaly are obviously iconic numbers as long as Chelsea are concerned. The jersey number 26 had been donned by Chelsea leader, legend, and ex-captain John Terry. While the no 17 squad number had been worn by stars like Eden Hazard and Mateo Kovacic but was recently vacated by on-loan midfielder Saul Niquez.
Conor Gallagher would be looking to establish himself in the Chelsea squad ahead of the new season as he temporarily takes up the no 15 shirt worn by Kevin de Bruyne and Victor Moses at Chelsea.
