Joao Felix: Ronaldo A ‘Big Influence’ For Me

The Portugal and Atletico Madrid youngster has opened up on the admiration of his fellow Portuguese while also calling the 36-year-old his mentor. Joao Felix insists Cristiano Ronaldo has been a “big influence” for him as he describes his relationship with his national team captain.

The young forward has been considered by many as the heir to Cristiano in the Portugal national team ever since his remarkable breakthrough with Benfica. After his breakthrough season, Atletico Madrid won the race to sign the highly-talented youngster in 2019, with Los Rojiblancos having to splash an excess of €120 million to acquire the services of the then 19-year-old star.

Joao Felix was the 2019 Golden Boy winner, although he experienced a challenging debut season in La Liga but has appeared to rediscover his best form in the current campaign. So far this campaign, he has scored nine goals and registered five assists in all competitions. Felix has equally established himself as a key figure in Diego Simeone’s title-challenging team.

Now, Joao Felix has gone to explain that working alongside an all-time great like Cristiano Ronaldo in the national team in the early stages of his career has been advantageous for him.

“Cristiano is a big influence for me,” the young Portuguese proclaimed in an exclusive interview for Daily Mail.

“When we are with the national team, he always tries to give me and all of the young guys’ advice about work, motivation, everything.”
