The FC Barcelona first-team players who have been given extended vacation are set to return to the squad in the near future, as per reports from Diario AS.
According to the source, Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets, who reached the 2020 Euro semi-finals with Spain, will return to the Ciutat Esportiva on July 30.
While Lionel Messi, Sergio Aguero, and Emerson Royal, who reached the Copa America final with Argentina and Brazil respectively, will be back on August 2.
Meanwhile, the Catalans are yet to extend Messi’s contract. But it seems like the Argentine will train with the rest of the players during the pre-season.
Barcelona, in the meantime, have to reduce their wage bill so that they will be able to register Lionel and the new signings for the 2021-22 campaign.
For now, Messi is still enjoying an extended vacation following his heroics at this summer’s Copa America, where he led Argentina to title victory.
