It wasn’t the easiest game in the world for the Blues as they earned a hard-fought 1-0 win against Zenit last night.
The goal came in the second half through Romelu Lukaku, who after the game revealed what Thomas Tuchel said that changed the game.
“Zenit are a very good team, very experienced. They won a lot of titles in their league. We knew it would be a tough game, we controlled it very well. We won which was important.”
“[Tuchel told us during half-time] a little bit of movement in the middle of the pitch, try to create chances through me holding the ball and putting players or through crosses.
“That’s what we did and eventually, we scored a goal from that.”
Cesar Azpilicueta’s cross led to Romelu Lukaku’s fine finish and the 3 points were secured – as usual, Tuchel’s tactics brought out the best in the Blues.
