Blackpool’s Jake Daniels has become the first openly gay male footballer in the United Kingdom after publicly coming out.
The 17-year-old has received a lot of support from teams and players for making the step, including from Man United.
The Red Devils’ official Twitter account tweeted to him: “We’re proud of you, Jake. You’re an inspiration to us and many others.”

David de Gea also sent a message to Daniels, tweeting: “Amazing courage and bravery Jake.”
Daniels has become the first professional British footballer to come out as gay since Justin Fashanu did it back in 1990.
