Man United hosts Wolves in their first Premier League game of 2022 at Old Trafford on Monday, January 3rd.
The Red Devils will miss Paul Pogba as he recovers from injury, while Victor Lindelof is in a race to make the game if able to recover from Covid-19.
Here we look at some ways United could potentially line up;
Option 1: Raphael Varane, Bruno Fernandes, and Fred To Return
Ralf Rangnick is unlikely to change his formation after how well it worked last time against Burnley. With Bruno Fernandes available, he’s likely to slot back into the team. Raphael Varane should also return after getting a rest in the last game.
Fred’s energetic nature can help United dominate the game against Wolves, so he is also in line to make a return. Edinson Cavani continues to lead the line with Cristiano Ronaldo in this lineup.
Option 2: Maguire Dropped
Harry Maguire has put in some very poor performances in the last month or so. Rangnick could actually give him a rest and play Varane and Eric Bailly together. Ralf can start Nemanja Matic to protect his backline and allow Scott McTominay to play the attacking role like in the last game.
Mason Greenwood could also play up-front with Ronaldo after having scored the winner against Wolves in the reverse fixture.
