According to ESPN’s Rob Dawson, a decent source, Manchester United have not completely shelved their plans to sign a new striker.
Instead, they will make it a priority next summer and will hope to sign either Harry Kane or Erling Haaland.
While Tottenham are demanding over £100 million for the Englishman, Borussia Dortmund could lose Erling Haaland for around £68 million, thanks to a release clause in his contract which activates in 2022.
The source adds that United are preparing to ‘invest heavily’ in a striker before 2022-23, with Edinson Cavani’s contract expiring at the same time.
Meanwhile, the Red Devils have completed the signing of Tom Heaton on a free transfer and also snapped up Borussia Dortmund English winger Jadon Sancho for a fee in the region of £75 million.
Real Madrid’s Raphael Varane is also believed to have completed his move to United with medical underway. Multiple sources suggest that he will be in England on Monday to carry out his medicals before United would officially announce him as their player.
