The thing is that, N’Golo Kante is a fantastic player, and whoever thinks otherwise does not understand football.
The French midfielder is an exceptional player whose contribution had been underestimated for many years before he has finally gotten the credit he deserves after his superb performances in the Champions League final.
On the other hand, there is similarly an underappreciated player; Casemiro. He roughly plays in the same role for Real Madrid and Brazil, and he does not get the universal recognition Kante gets.
Now according to Real Madrid fans, particularly the Reddit user nicknamed Shreeansh_Gupta, Casemiro, individually had a better season than Kante – which makes all the talk about N’Golo Kante claiming the Ballon d’Or this year pointless.
The Madrid fan came up with the following stats to back up his arguments in the N’Golo Kante vs Casemiro Comparison
- Games Played: 48 [Kante] – 46 [Casemiro]
- Most Goals Scored: Casemiro (7)
- Most Assists Made: Casemiro (6)
- Most Balls Recovered: Casemiro (332)
- Most Chances Created: Casemiro (36)
- Most Tackles Made: Casemiro (112)
- Most Interceptions: Casemiro (88)
- Most Clearances: Casemiro (64).
From the stats shown above, Kante recorded lesser numbers than Casemiro. It equally shows that the Brazilian contributes to both attack and defence more.
“This is in light to the recent chants I have been noticing on various platforms about how Kante is better than Kroos, Casemiro and Modric combined and has been the best CDM for the last 5 years.” Shreeansh_Gupta wrote.
“The thing that Premier League / general football fans don’t understand because La Liga football doesn’t get as much a view count as PL does is that Casemiro has been doing what Kante has done in the UCL final for the last 5 years.
“I even watched every Chelsea game this season in the PL and for me, Jorginho was better than Kante overall throughout the season.
“Just because we didn’t advertise Casemiro as much in the last 5 years, mainly because we had Ronaldo for our fully deserved Balon D’Or chants scoring 50+ a season, doesn’t mean that Casemiro hasn’t been putting in work silently in our midfield.
“He has been the best CDM for a while now.”
He has a case in this N’Golo Kante vs Casemiro Comparison. What do you think?
