Paul Pogba Named In Premier League TOTW – Star Striker Misses Out
Paul Pogba understandably ran the show for United against Spurs and got an assist as well. Star striker Edinson Cavani also scored a goal and played major roles in two more, but he was snubbed by Alan Shearer for Alexandre Lacazette in the Premier League Team of the Week.
The French midfielder has been named in Allan Shearer’s Premier League Team of the Week after his heroics for Manchester United in the 3-1 victory over Jose Mourinho’s Tottenham on the weekend.
Paul Pogba toyed with the Spurs’ midfielders in the middle of the park and even got an assist for Mason Greenwood’s late goal.
To justify his selection in the Premier League TOTW, Alan Shearer wrote for PremierLeague.com: “When he plays like that he’s unplayable, as he showed for the final goal as he waltzed past Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, shrugged off Eric Dier and played in Mason Greenwood.”

But the Premier League legend didn’t pick fellow United star Edinson Cavani, who scored a brilliant diving header and played prominent roles in setting up the other two as well.

Instead, Shearer picked Alexandre Lacazetter, who scored a brace against Sheffield United, alongside Jesse Lingard for his brilliant brace against Leicester City.
