United have rarely made January signings over the last decade, with the Glazers believing in splashing the cash during the summer.

However, Rangnick believes he needs reinforcements in January to help the Red Devils enjoy a strong second half of the season.

The German gaffer is reportedly eager to sign RB Leipzig midfielder Amadou Haidara – who is valued at around £33m – but the club are yet to show a desire to make a move for him.
