Michael Oliver has been appointed as the referee to take charge of Man United’s game against Man City at the weekend.
It will be the third time that Oliver has officiated a game involving the Red Devils in the Premier League this season.
Unfortunately, United have not won a single game in which Oliver has officiated so far this season.
They’ve lost one and drawn one, with the referee averaging 9.5 fouls given per game in the Red Devils’ matches.
In fact, Oliver was actually the referee for the Manchester Derby earlier this season which United lost 0-2.
To make things even more challenging, the VAR referee for the game will be Stuart Atwell.
He was the VAR referee in United’s games against Burnley and Middlesbrough earlier this year, giving some controversial calls in both of them.
Ralf Rangnick realizes his side desperately needs a boost their top-4 hopes and a loss on Sunday could see them fall further behind in the race for a Champions League spot.
