Antonio Rudiger Finally Reveals The Reasons Why He Refused To Renew His Contract With Chelsea

Antonio Rudiger was asked to comment on deciding against extending his Chelsea deal as he is set to move on a free transfer to Real Madrid.

The center-back said (via CFC): “I don’t want to go into deep things. There was a chance [to extend the contract] but sanctions was not the problem.

“It’s a difficult one to take for myself. These are questions sometimes we don’t have an answer for. I don’t have an answer for it.”

Rudiger then added about not being able to add a final trophy to his Chelsea collection: “Personally, it’s the third time [losing an FA Cup final] so you can’t always say unlucky, unlucky, unlucky. At the end of the day, it’s about winning.

“It’s not about next season. The game was about today. It was there to take. Unfortunately, we didn’t.”

Rudiger will leave Chelsea after five seasons at the club and multiple titles including the Champions League and Europa League. We wish him all the best for his future.
