It was confirmed by Chelsea yesterday that new signing Saul Niguez will take over the No. 17 shirt for the new season.
Meanwhile, two great Chelsea players have previously worn the same number – Mateo Kovacic and Eden Hazard.
Of course, supporters are more than happy that the midfielder has decided to take up this number as he has the potential to be as good as Kovacic has been for us – matching Hazard will be a harder task, but never say never!
Mateo Kovacic is a Champions League winner with the squad and Hazard’s legacy at Chelsea doesn’t need much explaining – fingers crossed that Saul can achieve the same success!
Kovacic took no.8 jersey this season, worn memorably by club legend Frank Lampard and the Croatian has been one of Chelsea’s driving forces in the midfield. Saul is a subject of deadline day transfer and has yet to make his official debut for Blues, but hopefully, we can get to see him in action after the International break.
