Speaking to the media after the 2–2 draw away at Atalanta in the Champions League, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer said: “I commit a crime every time I pick a team because there are always players that get left out.
“Jadon Sancho will come good. Jadon has got a great work rate and attitude and quality. He was really sharp when he came on. We wanted a little bit more width on the side because we put Edinson on.
“Donny van de Beek provided the run for the last goal and he keeps working. He’s got qualities in there to unlock close defenses and he almost scored as well. I thought all of those who came on did well. I thought the qualities they have could make an impact.”
Jadon Sancho and Van de Beek came on with just minutes left on the clock against Atalanta on Tuesday as both players are currently struggling to break into Manchester United’s starting XI.
Neither the Englishman nor the Dutchman have managed to score a goal or provide an assist so far this season and it’s hard to see the situation improving ahead of the Manchester derby in the Premier League on Saturday.
