‘Soucek Is Better Than Fernandes’ Claims Carlton Cole

According to former West Ham star Carlton Cole, Tomas Soucek has been a better signing for the Hammers than Bruno Fernandes has been for Manchester United. Cole claims that Soucek has been more influential for West Ham than Bruno Fernandes has been for Manchester United.

Since Bruno Fernandes joined United in January 2020, the Portuguese has earned plaudits from all over. He has been credited as the man behind the Red Devils’ resurgence as they finished the second half of last season on a high.

Meanwhile, Tomas Soucek, who joined the Hammers months later from Sparta Prague in a €19m deal has been a silent performer for the West Londoners.

Statistically, Bruno Fernandes has registered 11 goals and eight assists in the Premier League this season as Manchester United find themselves in ‘title-challenging’ position of second place. With the tally, it means the 26-year-old midfielder is United’s top scorer this season.

In a similar run, Tomas Soucek is also the West Ham’s top scorer so far this season with seven goals to his name as the West London club remains in contention for European spots.

Despite Bruno Fernandes already making his mark as one of the top performers around, ex-Hammer Carlton Cole believes Tomas Soucek has made more impact at the Olympic stadium than Fernandes has done at Old Trafford.

“He’s been immense this season. For me, he’s obviously the signing of any club so far this season out of every club, pound for pound.” Carlton Cole said as quoted by Goal.

“You talk about Bruno Fernandes being so impactful [at] Man Utd but for me, pound for pound, he’s been even better than Fernandes.”

“He’s been everywhere. whenever he’s on that pitch he breeds confidence for every West Ham player and every West Ham person connected to the club.”

“I wasn’t expecting to have a goalscoring midfielder at West Ham and he’s just come in and done the job. He’s been unbelievable and everyone’s taken confidence from his performances so far.”

“He’s been outstanding and when you’ve got a player like that in your team, especially as the driving force in midfield, he’s enabled to chip in with the goals, and with Declan Rice around him, it’s opened up the game for him too.”
