“Didn’t know that. Just seen that they scored a last-minute penalty,” Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold told Premier League Productions about the dramatic end of the game between Chelsea and Leeds.
“But we can’t complain because we did the same last week [against Wolves]. That’s the title race really, these things happen and it makes it exciting.
“Three teams going for it this year it seems like. We have to keep winning. This is an important period. The games come thick and fast.
“So, any sort of slip-up right now will be detrimental. We want to be top of the league come March and April to push in during the final run-in.”
The three leading sides are already well clear of the rest of the pack, but there are only two points between Man City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
Unlike their opponents, the Blues have not really competed for the title since the 2016-17 season, so their opponents’ experience could be an advantage. Still, if Chelsea go through their December slump with minimal losses, they will be a force to be reckoned with.
Meanwhile, Manchester United are currently in 5th place with 11 points off leaders Manchester City, 10 points behind second-placed Liverpool, and then 9 points behind Chelsea, who are currently in third place after leading the race for 7 weeks.
