According to The Athletic, a tier-one source, Anthony Martial ‘could stay’ at Manchester United this summer provided he impresses Erik ten Hag during pre-season.
Martial will return to Old Trafford after a disappointing loan with Sevilla, where he failed to convince the fans.
Although it initially seemed like he’d be sold this summer, United’s lack of attacking options has prompted the club to reconsider his future.
Ten Hag will reportedly analyze Martial and his work during pre-season to determine if he’s good enough to stay. And if the Dutchman gives the green light, the Frenchman won’t be sold despite his struggles over the past seasons.
Since joining in 2015, Martial has hit double figures in goals just twice in the Premier League (10 goals in 2018/19, 17 goals in 2019/20).
However, United only have Cristiano Ronaldo as the main striker following Edinson Cavani’s departure and Mason Greenwood’s suspension.
