In his final interview for Ajax, Erik ten Hag opened up on a touchline conversation with Cristiano Ronaldo during a Champions League clash with Real Madrid back in 2019.
Quoted by The Metro, the Dutchman said: “That was an interesting chat [with Ronaldo].
“I think he could appreciate the way we played. He is a true winner and a magnificent player. I can’t wait to work with him [at Manchester United].”
Despite speculation otherwise, the 37-year-old looks set to be part of Ten Hag’s plans next season.
Ronaldo, who has a year left on his contract, will stay at United despite the club not securing Champions League football.
Meanwhile, the Portuguese superstar himself has expressed his eagerness to work with Ten Hag and bring silverware back to the red side of Manchester.
