Chelsea returned to winning ways over the weekend with an impressive 3-0 win over Aston Villa. The win takes it to 3 of 4 for the Blues so far this season having drawn Liverpool 1-1 at Anfield on Matchday 3.
Meanwhile, summer signing Romelu Lukaku has continued his fine form in front of goal by scoring his first-ever goal for Chelsea at Stamford when he opened the scoring with 15 mins on the clock. The Belgian would later add another to wrap up his solid performance.
Thus, after the game Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel was asked if Lukaku’s brace proved that he will be the difference-maker for Chelsea this season, the gaffer replied: “Today he was and the idea was for him to be the difference and give us a different profile to what he had.”
“He has a kind of personality and self-confidence, he wants to score, help the team with his goals. And he has the confidence and composure to do it.
“It was super important today because he scored two very difficult goals, no easy tap-in, and it made the difference for us. It helped us get a very important three points against a difficult opponent.
“He adds something we didn’t have in this capacity so far. So I’m very happy.”
Chelsea will be back in action on Tuesday night as they start the defense of their Champions League title against Zenit St. Petersburg.
