Thomas Tuchel Responds To Rumors Linking Timo Werner With Chelsea Exit

Timo Werner has found the going tough in the Premier League since his arrival in London and reportedly wants a return to Bundesliga in the summer. Now Chelsea head coach Thomas Tuchel has responded to those speculations by jokingly asking reporters to “read a book” instead of transfer rumors as the German played down his compatriot’s potential exit from Stamford Bridge.

The former RB Leipzig forward hasn’t quite turned out to be the player Chelsea expected him to be when they paid big money to bring him to West London. Werner has only found the net once in 2021 and just twice in his previous 26 appearances.

As a result of the 25-year-old striker not repaying Chelsea their money’s worth and with the German finding it difficult to adjust to his new life at Stamford Bridge, it has so far been suggested that the two parties could part ways at the end of the season.

It is believed that the forward supposedly wants a Bundesliga return as the Blues reportedly lines up a move for Borussia Dortmund’s hotshot in Erling Haaland.

Now when quizzed about Werner’s uncertain future, Thomas Tuchel responded, via Sky Sports: “Stop reading! Read a book! There is no book on Timo, so read a book!”

“For Timo, I think he has no reason now to be frustrated because he played an amazing match against Liverpool, maybe his best match since I arrived.”

“This is a team effort to attack and defend, but we expect our guys to create more chances, to be more decisive because we expect the defenders to play on the highest level and so we also expect that of our strikers.”

“And then maybe all the stuff you read will disappear.”
