Tuchel Finally Pass Verdict On Saul Niguez Future After Embarrassing Watford Performance
Saul Niguez’s Chelsea nightmare continued with another display to forget against Watford in the Premier League on Wednesday.
With the score at 1–1, the Spaniard was hauled off the pitch at half-time and replaced by center-back Thiago Silva. The Blues won the game 2–1.
Thomas Tuchel said after the game: “I don’t know where Saul goes from this performance but he was on a yellow card so we had two options.
“We could have taken [full-back] Marcos Alonso off who also had a yellow card and try Saul as a wing-back. I had this in my mind before the game.”

“But I thought maybe it was not the right match to try things with new positions so it was him to change the shape a little bit and have Thiago on the pitch.
“Having [center-back] Trevoh Chalobah on the number six who is more physical – unfortunately Trevoh injured himself. But it was a tactical decision.”
Saul, who has failed to score a goal or provide an assist in seven-game for Chelsea so far this season, is on loan from Atletico Madrid.
However, the 27-year-old’s agreement could reportedly be terminated in January as the move does not appear to be working for either club — and the player.
