Thomas Tuchel Names 5 Chelsea Players Who Have Impressed Him The Most In The Pre-Season

The pre-season is finally over for Chelsea. The Blues have played five friendlies – if we count the second training game against Udinese – as they build up their fitness for the 2022/23 campaign.
Here are some of the players who we think have impressed the most in the past few weeks.

Kalidou Koulibaly

Played just 90 minutes across two games at the end of the pre-season but immediately showed what a defender he is. Slotted in seamlessly as the left-sided center-back.

Raheem Sterling

Was arguably the standout Chelsea forward in every game. Added flexibility to the front line, and scored his first goal in a Chelsea shirt against Udinese.

Mason Mount

Had only one game off as he struggled to create anything against Arsenal. Was a more positive presence in every other game, won the Man of the Match in the Club America game, and struck up a good partnership with Sterling.

Jorginho

Becomes more of a progressive passer, losing little of his reliability. Starred in each game he played – except the Arsenal one.

Mateo Kovacic

Emerged with credit from the Arsenal debacle. Ran the show during his time in the matches against Charlotte and Udinese, and registered a brilliant assist in the latter game.
