Mateo Kovacic tested positive for the coronavirus a few days ago and was therefore not eligible to play against Leeds United.
Asked to update on the midfielder’s health, Thomas Tuchel said (via Chelsea FC): “Kova had some symptoms over the last few days.
“Not too bad is my information, but I don’t know the answer to when he is allowed to come back. We need to know what the doctor says and 10 days and some tests to be negative before he can come back.”
If we assume that Kovacic is to miss at least two more weeks as he needs to test negative and then get back to speed in training, he will surely miss at least four more games.
We hope that the Croatian international feels better – the team could surely use him in the middle of the park now more than ever!
