“I was absolutely happy. I am pretty sure that he was not affected by it, I see him on a daily basis,” Thomas Tuchel told Sky Sports about Romelu Lukaku’s first game after the controversial interview.
“Yesterday and today he seemed to be relaxed, he seemed to be fine with the situation, and also mentally moved on.
“Romelu can handle pressure, he can handle adversity, and it was a good performance. He contributed a lot to our defensive set-up and created and had some chances. So (it was a) good game.”
Lukaku played 90 minutes against Tottenham just three days after being left out of the squad for the Liverpool clash due to his comments to Sky Italia.
It looks like the coach and the player are willing to leave the controversy behind – but he’ll have to up his game to placate a fraction of the Chelsea supporters.
