Tuchel Shares Another Truthful But Worrying Reply When Asked About Lukaku’s Struggles

Thomas Tuchel’s press conference ahead of the Lille game started with an inevitable question about Romelu Lukaku’s poor performances of late.

“What can I do? I don’t know,” the Chelsea boss said when asked about the striker recording only seven touches against Palace.

“Now we have to deal with it. The data speaks a certain language, he was not involved, it’s sometimes like this with strikers if they struggle with self-confidence.”

Romelu Lukaku was Chelsea’s worst performer against Crystal Palace. It’s not only about him making seven touches, it’s about his lack of defensive contributions, dangerous runs, and attempts to invade the space. He was marked out of the game by the Eagles defenders.

The 28-year-old has scored 10 goals in 28 appearances for Chelsea across all competitions so far this season.
