Thomas Tuchel has provided a fitness update on two important players for Chelsea in Kovacic and Rudiger ahead of the Real Madrid clash on Wednesday.
The Croatian midfielder has still not been able to recover from his hamstring injury, while Antonio Rudiger is fit enough to play in this one but will have to wear a protective mask.
When quizzed about Chelsea’s injury situation ahead of the second leg of the Champions League semi-finals clash against Real Madrid, Thomas Tuchel said: “Mateo will not be in the squad and I think Toni will play with a mask.
“It is the best feeling to arrive with almost a full squad in good shape. Everything is almost open for the second leg.”
Mateo Kovacic, therefore, is yet to recover from his hamstring injury but it seems that Antonio Rudiger has made himself available for the big clash. Meanwhile, the Blues will need to win the game to progress to the Champions League finals or at least a goalless draw after playing out a 1-1 draw in the first leg last week.
